On Sunday 4th Feb Siren Sounds Choir hosted an informal friends and family concert at Festival Hall (Alderley Edge). This was the perfect opportunity to share the tunes they have been working on recently with a friendly audience.
We kicked-off the set with the upbeat numbers 'Can't Hurry Love' (The Supremes) and 'Something in the Water' (Brooke Fraser) and then relaxed into our own arrangement of 'Wild Horses' by Birdy and Lennon and Maisy's version of 'Boom Clap' complete with stamping and clapping chorus!
Guest singer Jim Marris (Aged 12) impressed everyone with his assured performance of Elton John's 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight'. Jim has been a student of mine for a while and Jim's mum has been a member of the choir since it began, so this was a lovely addition to the programme.
Following Jim, the choir performed Wilson Phillips' 'Hold On' which got everyone clapping along and drawing the concert to a close we sang our favourite oldies 'Will you Still Love Me Tomorrow?' (Carole King) and 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell).
Overall the concert was a big success, the ladies did an amazing job and I'm sure their friends and family were as proud of them as I was!

Alderley Edge Christmas Lights
Thank you to all the ladies who joined us to sing at the Alderley Edge Christmas Light Switch on 23rd November. It was a fun event with a very supportive and festive crowd.
Siren Sounds Choir went on stage immediately after the lights were switched on and sang four tunes: Santa Claus is Coming To Town, Something in The Water (Brooke Fraser), Can't Hurry Love and then ended their set with Sleigh Ride.
They were professional throughout, looked amazing in their red, navy and gold outfits and were even snowed on whilst singing. Hope it's got you all in the mood for December and the countdown to the big day!!
Well done all. You were amazing!!
'SING OUT!' Workshop (Musical Theatre)
On Sunday 24th September, Siren Sounds hosted their first Sing Out! event. This was a 3-hour fun workshop open to members and non-members on the theme of Musical Theatre.
The idea behind this event was to offer the current members the chance to work on different styles of song which are not included in the choir's usual pop and soul repertoire. We were also hoping to attract potential new members or offer ladies who can't commit to a regular weekly slot, the chance to have a sing!
It was great fun. The choir managed to learn two tunes with harmonies; "Family" from Dreamgirls and "On My Own" from Les Miserables.
We will be running the next Sing Out! Event in the New Year. Keep an eye on our facebook page for further information.
